I'm using windows 11. I'm trying to move a file into a folder where a duplicate of this file exists.

In the "skip or replace files" dialog box, the "Compare info for both files" option doesn't work.

When you click it, nothing happens. I've found a reddit post that refers to 2 updates being the culprit (kb5065789 and kb5066835). It was suggested to uninstall these, however when I go to the uninstall updates setting, these 2 updates are not presented. I've confirmed that they were installed via the updates history screen.

  1. Are these updates to blame for the issue i'm having, if so, is there a fix?
  2. How can I uninstall these updates if they aren't in the list of updates to uninstall

Thanks in advance for any advise or solutions.

Are you using the regular Windows 11 public build or the Insider version? The “Compare info for both files” issue is known after updates KB5065789 and KB5066835. These are system servicing updates, so they can’t be removed through Settings or Control Panel. Microsoft hasn’t released a fix yet, but the next cumulative update should address it. Keep checking Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install new releases as they arrive to restore full File Explorer functionality.

As of build 26200.6901 this issue has still not been resolved.

Hi there! Microsoft hasn't officially confirmed that these updates are causing this issue, but it’s worth trying to troubleshoot first. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter from Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. If that doesn't fix it, try resetting your PC via Settings > System > Recovery, which can help with system issues.

If you've already tried the Windows Troubleshooter and it didn’t help, checking for new updates might be the next step. Sometimes Microsoft releases patches that fix issues like this. You can also try going to Control Panel > Programs and Features > View Installed Updates to see if those updates show up there for removal. I hope this helps!

Thanks for confirming that. Are you checking under Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates? For Windows 11, some cumulative updates like KB5065789 and KB5066835 install as non-removable servicing stack updates, so they won’t appear in the uninstall list. I do not support manually removing these since they include key security components. The best step is to install the latest cumulative update, which usually contains stability fixes for issues caused by earlier builds. You can check this by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and restarting after installation.
