It says we're sorry, but Word has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Word will need to be closed as a result. Would you like to repair now?
After clicking repair now, it is not working

Use an Online Repair of Office, because the built‑in “Repair now” from the error dialog is often not sufficient.

    1. Close all Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
    2. In Windows 10/11, open SettingsAppsInstalled apps or Apps & features.
    3. Find the Microsoft 365/Office product in the list, select it, and choose Modify.
    4. When prompted how to repair, choose Online Repair (more thorough than Quick Repair), then select Repair and follow the prompts.
    5. When the repair completes, restart the computer and try opening Word and the other Office apps again.

If Online Repair does not resolve the issue, completely uninstall Office from Settings → Apps, restart the PC (not just shut down), then reinstall Office from the associated Microsoft account.

Hi! Let me help you with this issue.

Please try this alternate method for running the online repair.

    Step 1: Open Control Panel

    Press Windows + R

    Type control and press Enter

    Step 2: Go to Programs

    Click Programs

    Then select Programs and Features

    Step 3: Locate Microsoft Office

Find Microsoft 365 / Office 365 in the list

    Click it once to highlight

    Step 4: Open Repair Options

Click Change (or right-click → Change)

    Step 5: Choose Online Repair

Select Online Repair (not Quick Repair)

    Click Repair

As the AI bot said, Repair Now is often not helpful. Instead, restart your PC and then perform an Online Repair (note that a reinstall is usually required as the final step of such a repair).
