Microsoft Edge multiple processes running, impacting Memory Usage

When I open Edge - just a single tab - the Task Manager always shows that there are about 20 instances of it running. Commonly meaning >100% of Memory is being used - which means everything is terribly slow. How can I stop this happening?

I had been having a memory leak that was causing windows explorer to hang when waking from sleep and messing up my dual monitor. Turning off these settings has fixed the issue.
