Download Edge Browser for Chromebook

Chrome and android are more of a play toy and are only meant to be used to browse or play on the internet. Windows and Mac are for the adult, There are so many things you can not do using Android / Chrome. At the minute Chrome and Edge are neck to neck. I feel Edge will slowly edge Chrome out of the lead spot. 

Try running a good photo editor or a graphical design program on Chrome.. Android and chrome are toys in comparison. 

That being said I am writing this on my ChromeBook. I am in no way an android hater as I have a Google Pixel and a Samsung Galaxy phone and love them for their limited use 

When you are ready to get to work you have to use Windows. With Mac a step behind. 

Each device has it's use. 

And life would be so much better if I could use Edge on my chromebook..

You can run Android apps on Chromebook so I believe you can run Microsoft Edge..

The experience would not be same as desktop, though.

I tried your link above and I get a message stating that this is not compatible with my device, which is an Acer Chromebook 15 (CB3-532). I had wondered why Edge or Microsoft Edge or Edge Browser or any combination resulted in zero found when previously searched in Play Store. However, your direct link takes me right to it. I guess I can try side loading it, but most side loaded apps assume you're using a phone, so on a 16:9 display (Chromebook) the results are 9:16, which look ridiculous. And when you tweak the settings, to make it 16:9, it's a mess; Hence, why it states it's not compatible.

I wanted the Edge browser on my Chromebook as it has a built in reader, the ability to read article out loud. I guess I can find a work around, but it's nice when said features are built in. Plus, I value earning my Microsoft points, too. For now, I'll use the Bing search app to earn points, but right-click is not available.

I own a Asus Flip C302C which allows a lot of android apps but not all.  Not Wyze for instance nor MS Edge.

I followed the link to Edge on Google play. I got a message saying that it was not compatible. I'm running Chrome 80.0.3987.67  Any Ideas?

I really don't want to start a Windows vs Chrome and Google vs Microsoft war here and speculate why Edge is not available for Chrome, but my experience is different regarding the stability and reliability of Chrome and Windows.

After each and every update my Chromebook is getting slower, something in the background taking a long time to load and it is only getting worst. Chrome OS boot up within a second but then I need to wait 10 minutes before I can do anything because not even Youtube or my Mail load up at least for few more minutes. Android apps also crashing a lot and there is no help. Updates also coming very slow for my budget Chromebook I am already several versions behind compared to more expensive Chromebooks.

I also dislike the fact Google is trying to force us to connect all our Google accounts on Chromebooks. I have different account for personal use, business and a few others for other purposes and I am happy to switch between them whenever I want to but now it is not possible on a Chromebook because Google want me to connect all my accounts or create a profile for each on my Chromebook which I don't want to do. I also dislike the fact Google don't respect our privacy. No matter if you disable all the tracking on your phone and in Chrome, Google continue track you.

I am no longer a happy Chrome user and considering to switch. I do like the direction Microsoft and Windows is going and personally on my desktop I had no problem with Windows 10 or even 7 for many-many years and I also know a lot of people who is happy with their Windows 10 computer.

So now that my Chromebook is becoming a real pain to use and because Google is don't respect my privacy I am considering my next laptop is going to be a Surface or a Windows 10 device and I am also considering to use Microsoft services instead of Google including Mail.

I was already using Edge on my phone and love it, it was much more faster and stable on my phone because I have a budget phone and Chrome did begin to crash while Edge did offer a smooth experience and continue to offer since. I also begin to use Edge on my desktop and love it especially the new Chromium based version so now I figured I try Edge on my Chromebook too while I can buy a new Windows 10 laptop of some sort.

Regarding Linux, I've been using Linux for some time and updates break things on Linux even more frequently than on Windows, you constantly need to battle missing and broken dependencies on Linux after each update. Often I did find my self fixing staff in the terminal instead of doing what I initially intended to do. Some people, hard core Linux guys may love to do this and love hacking the OS but personally I need a PC to get work done, I don't have time to fix things before I can get my work done and if I need the latest version of something. I do keep my eyes on Linux but so far there is no a single distribution that do not break so I always find my self coming back to Windows 10.

Chrome OS was a happy place for my everyday web browsing, mails, videos and writing documents but it has changed so I have no choice but to go full time Windows now and also considering to switch to Microsoft services and products. I was considering at some point to get a Linux laptop but again, they are too expensive for what I need and Linux is being not so reliable with updates and I also would like to be connected with my mobile and  I just really see no alternative but stick with Windows and Microsoft products.
