Microsoft Edge opening too many tabs would cause cracking sound on M1 Mac

I am using Microsoft Edge on my MacBook Pro 2021 model with M1 Pro CPU. I found that one i opened too many tabs which could potentially make sound (e.g. an ended Google meet tabs, a youtube tab that's not playing) or tabs that actually making sound, then the speaker on the computer would create cracking and popping sound frequently (e.g. once every half min)

For now, when this happens, i would just close a bunch of tabs on Edge, then the cracking sound would be gone.

Is there anyone experienced the same?

    Hello dpotterEP,

I'm wondering if you see a speaker icon on the left side of one of your tabs when this issue is occurring? Also, are you using any third party browser extensions?

For the first question - Yes and no. It seems it doesn't really matter if the tabs are actually playing a sound. As long as there are too many tabs, and the computer is playing some sound, then this could happen.

Example 1, i have seen the same happening when all the tabs in Edge is not actively playing any sound, but i am playing some music from Spotify app, and it would start having the crack sound

Example 2, i have all the tabs in edge not playing sound actively, except one tab on YouTube, this would also start having the crack sound.

For the second question, please see the screenshot I attached.

Thanks for clarifying that this happens regardless if there's audio playing from the browser or not. It's possible this is caused by a misbehaving extension. If you don't mind please open a New InPrivate Browser window and test if it's occurring there too. To do this click on the ellipsis(...) top right > Select New InPrivate Window.

I have done some extensive testing and it seems it's still the case even if i removed all the extensions, or just using 1-2 extensions.
