Urdu Typesetting font family

Overview

Urdu Typesetting is a typeface in the Arabic script that is designed for typesetting the Urdu language. It is intended for setting general texts such as correspondence, reports, newspapers, and other publications, as well as for online content. It is not intended for setting religious or scholarly text, but is meant for body text and headlines in everyday documents. It can also be usesd in the Arabic and Persian languages.

Urdu Typesetting is based on the Nastaliq style of Arabic calligraphy, in the Eastern or Pakistani tradition rather than the Persian tradition of this style. The typeface has two weights, Regular and Bold; it has no italic styles, as italic is not a feature of the Arabic script. The font also includes capital and lowercase letters of the Latin script.
