Create flashcards in Teach
Flashcards reinforce learning and accelerate review of key concepts. Teach supports term and definition, question and answer, and multiple choice formats, with optional hints to prompt deeper thinking.
Scenario: In a foreign language class or a class with multilingual students, Teach generates flashcards in the selected display language so review materials match learner needs.
Checklist for effective flashcards:
- Provide detailed source content, as the source content is all that is used by Teach to create the flash cards.
- Choose a format that fits the learning target.
- Enable concise hints that offer a single clue.
- Review for clarity, accuracy, and reading level.
- Share sets via a join code or a link provided by the educator.
To create a set of flashcards:
Provide learning content and attach resources from cloud files or upload materials.
Select the display language.
Choose a flashcard type and turn on hints when they'll be helpful to learners. Formats include:
- Terms and definition gives a single term per flashcard with the definition as the answer
- Question and answer provides the learner with questions about the key topics provided by the educator and answers for them.
- Multiple choice is like terms and definitions but provides the learner with multiple choices to choose the correct term after reading the definition.
After choosing to Generate, educators can review, and edit terms, definitions, questions, and hints for each flashcard individually.
Enhance with AI in the side panel allows educators to update the entire draft.
- Use the Describe textbox to give overall descriptive updates to enhance the draft.
- The AI suggested options can be selected to update the draft.
- To enhance the entire draft further the Card type and Hints menus can be updated.
- After using one or more of these options the Regenerate all option creates a new draft.
After a new draft is created, use the navigate buttons to preview the different drafts.
Selecting the play button allows the educator to preview the flashcards as a learner.
The pencil button by the New flashcard title must be selected to give the flashcard set a unique name before they're saved and shared.
Once saved, the flashcard activity can be shared with learners through a link and join code, or with a share activity link to let anyone join directly.
Note
Varied formats support recall, application, and recognition tasks across subjects.
Tip
Keep hints short to reduce cognitive load and focus attention on the key idea.
