The CacheBITSContent property gets or sets a Boolean value that indicates whether content received using the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) will be cached.
C++
HRESULT put_CacheBITSContent(
VARIANT_BOOL fEnabled
);
HRESULT get_CacheBITSContent(
VARIANT_BOOL* pfEnabled
);
Parameters
fEnabled
Boolean value that indicates whether content received using BITS will be cached.pfEnabled
Pointer to a Boolean variable that is set on return to VARIANT_TRUE if content received using BITS will be cached, or to VARIANT_FALSE if content received using BITS will not be cached.
Return Value
These property methods return S_OK if the call is successful; otherwise, they return an error code.
Visual Basic
Property CacheBITSContent As Boolean
Property Value
Boolean value that indicates whether content received using BITS will be cached.
Remarks
This property is read/write. Its default value is False. However, Forefront TMG Setup sets it to TRUE (VARIANT_TRUE in C++) for the Microsoft Update Cache Rule.
BITS helps to transfer large amounts of data without degrading network performance. It does this by transferring data in small chunks, utilizing unused bandwidth as it becomes available, and reassembling the data at the destination. BITS also maintains file transfers when a network disconnection occurs, or a computer needs to be restarted. When the network connection is reestablished, BITS will continue where it left off. Any cache rule can be enabled to cache content received using BITS.
The value of this property controls the status of the Enable caching of content received through the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) check box for the applicable cache rule in Forefront TMG Management. This check box is grayed out for all cache rules, but its status can be changed programmatically.
