    Hi Mike,

Please sign out of OneDrive using the Cloud Icon > OneDrive Settings > Account > Unlink this PC and link again.

Additionally, I think you might be hitting a storage quota bug reported by others.

A microsoft employee in this thread has said that it would take 24 hours to resolve the same.

\There is no external guidance about this issue. The latest update is that the fix is rolling out and is expected to be complete in the next 24 hours. The product team has telemetry to see the progression, and they see the queue coming down at a steady rate.

I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the answer. Wishing you good luck!

Follow these steps to get the OneDrive desktop app to recognize the new 1 TB quota from the Microsoft 365 Family subscription:

    1. Confirm the upgraded storage online
      • Go to Manage storage in a browser and verify that the total storage shows the expected 1 TB and that you are under the quota.
      • If the upgrade was very recent, wait up to 24 hours for the change to fully propagate.
    2. Force the desktop client to refresh the quota
      • If more than 24 hours have passed and the desktop app still shows 5 GB, unlink and relink the OneDrive account so it pulls the latest quota from the service:
        • Right‑click the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area and choose Settings.
        • In the Account tab, select Unlink this PC (or similar option).
        • Complete the unlink process.
        • Then sign in again with the same Microsoft account and set up OneDrive; it will perform a fresh sync and should pick up the 1 TB quota.
      • This approach is consistent with the guidance to unlink and re‑link when storage changes are not reflected on a device.
    3. Allow time after relinking
      • After relinking, give the client some time to resync and refresh its status. Check the OneDrive status in the taskbar again to confirm it now shows the correct storage.

If the desktop client still shows 5 GB after unlinking/relinking and more than 24 hours since the upgrade, use the support/contact options from the OneDrive or Microsoft 365 account portal to have the account checked, as the backend quota is already correct on the web.
