If the Previous Versions method on the Properties dialog of the file in Windows does not provide a version of the document, if you use OneDrive to sync your files online, log into OneDrive online (https://onedrive.live.com/) to check if there is a version saved there with all the text, if not, then sadly, there is no other option available, you would need to re-type that text.

If the text is not in Word’s Version History and there is no older copy of the file, it most likely cannot be recovered and will need to be re‑written. The only options to check are:

    1. Check Word’s Document Recovery pane (if Word crashed or closed unexpectedly)
      • Reopen Word.
      • If Word shows the Document Recovery pane, review the files listed under Available Files.
      • Open each version, check if it contains yesterday’s text, and save the correct one.
      • Delete any unwanted recovered files from the pane if needed.
    2. Check OneDrive / SharePoint Version History (if the file is stored in the cloud)
      • If the document is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint and AutoSave is on, open the file.
      • Go to File > Info > Version History.
      • In the Version History pane, open older versions and look for the missing text.
      • If a correct version is found, click Restore to make it the current version.
      • If you already checked Version History and the version with yesterday’s text is not there, this method will not help further.
    3. Check OneDrive Version History in File Explorer (if using the OneDrive sync app)
      • In File Explorer, right‑click the document stored in the OneDrive folder.
      • Select Version history.
      • In the list, choose an older version and click Restore if it contains the missing text.

If none of these show a version with the lost text, there is no supported Microsoft method in the provided context to recover it, and the content will have to be recreated.
