My sound driver is either not working or not there at all. How can I get it back and in working order?

Hi! Let me help you with this issue.

May I please know the make and model of your computer?

Please open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and clicking on Device Manager.

Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Look for your Audio driver (Realtek) or AMD. Please let me know if you see it there.

If not, you need to visit your device's support website and download and install the latest audio driver. Reboot the machine after the installation and test your audio.

Hi Zinger545, Thanks for posting here in Microsoft Community, I understand that your Realtek sound driver appears to be missing or deleted.

Can you check if Windows still detects any audio device? Here's how to check it:

    1. Right‑click Start after that go to Device Manager
    2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers

If the audio device is missing, follow the steps below:

    1. In Device Manager, click Action
    2. Select Scan for hardware changes
    3. If the driver was temporarily dropped, Windows may reinstall it automatically.

Let me know how it goes Zinger545. Hoping to hear from you soon.
