Problem when access to MongoDB Atlas from Azure

Hi

Appreciate if i can get help on the following.

`1.Unable to login to MongoDB Atlas via the Azure Portal URL for internal users

As the creating of user account will involve sending an email to the account, which doesn't have a mailbox for the internal users.

2.Login to MongoDB Atlas via the Azure Portal URL for external users (which has not register to MongoDB)

Unable to login unless the user registered the email account. So, must all the users registered to MongoDB?

I've registered the external users on MongoDB.

Return to Azure Portal > MongoDB Atlas

Click on the MongoDB created resource

In the MongoDB dashboard, click on the Go to MongoDB Atlas portal URL

Received an error { message : "Error Occurred" }

You’re running into expected behavior with how MongoDB Atlas integrates with the Microsoft Azure Portal, particularly around user onboarding and identity.

Atlas requires that users already exist (or are federated via SSO) before they can successfully land in the Atlas UI from the Azure portal.

For your scenarios:

Internal users without a mailbox Atlas relies on email-based identity for invitations. If the account doesn’t have a valid mailbox, the invite flow cannot complete. In this case, you’ll need to either use mailbox-enabled accounts or configure Azure AD SSO so users can authenticate without individual invites.

External users not yet registered Yes, users must exist in MongoDB Atlas before they can sign in. This can be done either by inviting them through Atlas (Organization/Project access) or by having them register first at https://cloud.mongodb.com.

Registered users seeing “Error Occurred” This usually indicates a mismatch between the Azure identity and the Atlas configuration. Please confirm that:

The user has been added to the correct Atlas Organization or Project

The same email/UPN is used in both Azure and Atlas

There are no session conflicts (try an InPrivate/Incognito browser)

Recommendation To simplify management and avoid manual invitations, consider configuring Azure AD Single Sign-On with MongoDB Atlas. This allows users to access Atlas directly using their Azure credentials and avoids email dependency.
