After a microsoft form was created a link was set up on a members only website to access the form. Is there a way to limit access to the microsoft form to specific people once the form link is selected from a non microsoft members only website?

    Dear @Book Admin,

I understand your concern. In this case, once the form link is opened (even from a non‑Microsoft members‑only website), Microsoft Forms controls who can access the form. However, access to the Microsoft Form is controlled by Microsoft and must be configured by the form owner in advance. The restriction is not applied after the user clicks the link, and it does not depend on the external website where the link is hosted.

The form owner must set the access rules before sharing the link, using the Collect responses > Who can respond options. Once configured, Microsoft Forms enforces those rules automatically whenever the link is opened, regardless of whether it is accessed from a members‑only website or elsewhere. Anyone who is not authorized will be prompted to sign in and prevented from accessing the form, even if they click the link from a members‑only website

In the form’s Collect responses settings, you can control who is allowed to respond:

    • Specific people in my organization can respond: Only the individual users you explicitly specify can open and submit the form.
    • Only people in my organization can respond: Any signed‑in user from your Microsoft tenant can respond, but external users are blocked.
    • If the form is set to Anyone can respond, then there is no way to restrict access, anyone with the link can open and submit it.

For more information, please follow this Microsoft Official Guide here: Choose who can fill out a form or quiz

Important limitation: Microsoft Forms can only restrict to users within your Microsoft 365 organization. It cannot validate or restrict based on membership in a third‑party (non‑Microsoft) website.

I hope the information shared is helpful. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.

Yes. Access to a Microsoft Form can be limited to specific people even if the link is posted on an external “members only” website.

In the form settings, configure Who can fill out this form as follows:

    1. Open the form in Microsoft Forms.
    2. Select Collect responses.
    3. Choose one of these options:
      • Only people in my organization can respond – Only users signed in with an account from the organization can access the form, even if others see the link on the website.
      • Specific people in my organization can respond – Only the named individuals or groups can open and submit the form. After selecting this option, enter the allowed names in the To: box.

If the form is set to Anyone can respond, anyone who can see the link on the website will be able to access it. Switching to one of the organization‑limited options enforces sign‑in and restricts access to the specified users, regardless of where the link is published.

Note: Only people in my organization can respond and Specific people in my organization can respond are available for Office 365 Education and Microsoft 365 Apps for business accounts.
