Tracking, updating, and organizing tasks within Microsoft Teams or integrated apps
Planner tasks cannot directly reference or “attach” a flagged email from Outlook in the way described.
Current behavior from the context:
- Flagged emails in Outlook appear as tasks in the Flagged Email smart list in To Do / My Day in Outlook when the option is enabled.
- Planner tasks can have files, photos, or links attached, and those attachments are stored in the SharePoint document library for the plan’s Microsoft 365 Group.
Because these are separate systems (To Do/Outlook tasks vs. Planner tasks), flagged emails are not automatically attachable objects in Planner. The only supported options are:
- Manually copy information from the flagged email into a Planner task, and/or
- Attach related files or links (for example, a link to the email if available via Outlook on the web) to the Planner task using the standard attachment mechanism.
There is no built-in feature in the provided documentation that eliminates the duplication between the Flagged Email task in My Tasks and a separate Planner task.
