Just got a message from Skype that my Skype credit will become inactive in 7 days, MSN will not refund me my credit they want to force me onto Teams which I will not do, they also owe me for what was left on my Skype phone number when they cancelled skype and told every one to go onto teams.

If MS wants to make a deal with me over the money that it owes, I will listen to their offer if it is to give me skype programming others from that it will be a small claims court here in the UK to recover the small amount, it will end up MS losing finances

Skype Credit and Skype Numbers are handled under Skype’s standard refund and credit policies, and Skype is now retired and transitioning users to Microsoft Teams Free.

    For the expiring Skype Credit:

    • Skype Credit becomes inactive after 180 days of no use. A reminder email is sent 7 days before it becomes inactive.
    • To keep using it (including to see the Skype Dial Pad in Teams), it must be reactivated before it expires:
      1. Sign in to the Skype account at the Reactivate Credit page: https://secure.skype.com/portal/settings/credit/reactivate.
      2. Select Reactivate Credit.
      3. It can take up to 15 minutes; an email is sent when reactivation is complete.

For refunds of Skype Credit and subscriptions:

    • Refunds are only available for purchases made directly from Skype, not via third‑party partners, vouchers, prepaid cards, or cash via third‑party methods.
    • Skype does not refund Skype Numbers once they have been used, because they are considered used from the moment of purchase.
    • Refunds are not given for charges older than 90 days or for subscriptions that have been used or expired.
    • To request a refund where eligible:
      1. Sign in to the correct Skype account and go to the purchase history.
      2. If eligible, a Refund button appears next to the transaction.
      3. Select Refund, then Confirm Refund; the refund is issued to the original payment method.
      4. If the Refund button is not available but the situation appears to meet the refund policy, contact Skype customer support to review the case.

Regarding Skype retirement and existing subscriptions/credit:

    • Skype has been retired and users are being directed to Microsoft Teams Free. Existing calling and Skype Number subscriptions continued to renew only until April 3, 2025.
    • The Skype Dial Pad is now available to remaining paid users from the Skype web portal and within Teams Free, and after May 5 it is visible only if there is an active paid subscription or active Skype Credit.
    • If there are subscriptions extending beyond May 1, 2026, they will be cancelled and converted to Skype Credit. If Skype Credit is not desired, after May 1, 2026 users with remaining cancelled subscriptions are eligible for a refund instead of keeping the credit and should contact Skype customer support to arrange this.

For compensation related to service changes (for example, termination of certain Skype Number services):

    • In some regulated scenarios (such as termination of Swedish Skype Numbers), customers may be eligible for compensation, including refunds or vouchers for other Microsoft services when refunds are not feasible.
    • To pursue compensation in such cases, contact Customer Support with account details and the affected number(s); support will review the case and guide through available options.

In all cases where the self‑service refund option is not visible but there is a belief that money is owed (for unused portions of subscriptions or service changes), the next step is to contact Skype/Microsoft Customer Support directly, provide account and purchase details, and request a manual review under the published refund and retirement policies.
