    Hi,

Let us try to remove the Latest updates and see if that helps. Please open the Windows Recovery environment using either of the steps below:

On the Lock Screen, Press and hold the Shift key. Then, click the restart button on the lock screen located at the bottom right situated in the Power menu, to open the Windows Recovery options.

If you cannot reach the Lock screen or start your computer, restart your PC twice when the boot screen appears. If your PC has no restart button, press and hold the Power button until the computer shuts down. Do this twice. On the third time, windows should open Windows Recovery options automatically.

    In the Windows Recovery menu,

    Select the Troubleshoot option.

    Then, select Advanced Options.

    Choose the Troubleshoot option.

Select ""Uninstall Updates,"" then choose either "Uninstall Latest Quality Update".

    Allow the process to complete.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

The described behavior (Start button not responding, Settings app and Win+I flashing then closing) is a known symptom after certain Windows updates.

Use these steps depending on the Windows version and situation.

    1. Restart Windows Explorer (quick workaround)
      1. Right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager.
      2. On the Processes tab, locate Windows Explorer.
      3. Right-click Windows Explorer and select Restart.
      4. Test the Start button and Settings again.
    2. Sign out and sign back in
      1. Save work and close apps.
      2. Press the Windows logo key on the keyboard.
      3. Select the account picture in the upper-right corner of the Start screen/menu and choose Sign out.
      4. Sign back in and test Start and Settings.
    3. If this started immediately after a specific cumulative update on Windows 11 Some Windows 11 cumulative updates (for example KB5015814) have caused Start to stop opening. The documented resolution is:
      • Make sure the system has installed a later cumulative update that contains the fix (for KB5015814, the fix is in KB5016629).
      • If still on an affected build, Known Issue Rollback (KIR) should automatically mitigate the issue within about 24 hours; restarting the device can speed this up.
      • On enterprise-managed devices, an admin can deploy the special Known Issue Rollback Group Policy for the affected update as documented under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > KB5014668 220721_04201 Known Issue Rollback > Windows 11 (original release).
    4. If Start/Settings still do not work after Explorer restart and sign-out
      • Check for and install all available Windows Updates (including any newer cumulative updates) once Start/Settings work long enough to open Settings > Windows Update.
      • If the problem persists and is tied to a specific update, an in-place repair or reset (keeping files) may be required, as recommended in similar severe-corruption cases.
