My outlook/hotmail is not showing all emails that are sent to me. I don't think there is "focused" selected. The emails missing are from individuals & real businesses. Thanks for your help!

    Welcome Bart Andeer,

I understand how frustrating it can be when some emails sent to your Outlook.com (Hotmail) account are not appearing in your inbox.

To speed up the resolution, please confirm the following:

    • Do the missing emails appear in the Junk Email or Deleted Items folders?
    • Does this issue happen only in Outlook on the web, or also when you check the mailbox from another device or app?

In the meantime, you can try the workarounds steps to see if the issue is resolved:

Option 1: Check the Junk Email folder

    • Sign in to your Outlook account in web browser
    • Select Junk Email in the left pane
    • Look for the missing messages
    • If you find any, open the message, select Not junk, and confirm

Option 2: Check the Deleted Items folder

    • Select Deleted Items in the left pane
    • Look for the missing messages
    • If found, open the message and move it back to Inbox

    Option 3: Review inbox rules

    • Select Settings (gear icon)
    • Select Mail, then Rules
    • Review each rule carefully
    • Delete or disable any rule that moves, deletes, or forwards incoming mail automatically

Option 4: Review Junk email settings

    • Select Settings
    • Select Mail, then Junk email
    • Under Blocked senders, remove any email addresses or domains related to the missing senders
    • Under Safe senders, add the sender’s email address or domain, then save changes

Option 5: Check Focused Inbox and Sweep

    • From the inbox view, confirm that Focused Inbox is turned off
    • Open any message from an affected sender
    • If Sweep appears at the top, select it and remove any existing Sweep rule

Option 6: Test basic email delivery

    • Ask one sender to resend the email
    • Request they use a simple subject line and no attachments
    • Check whether the message arrives successfully

I hope this information helps resolve your issue. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me again in this thread.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

How do you know you're missing messages? Have people told you they sent you something? If so, ask them if they receive a non-delivery report and if they do, ask them the reason that the report contains for why the messages didn't arrive.

Have you another mailbox you can use to to try sending your Outlook.com mailbox a message? If so, what happens?
