I used to be able to take photos on my iPhone which then were automatically saved to onedrive app on iPhone as well as onedrive folder or online. It no longer downloads new photes. My iPhone setting is to camera back which shows as being complete . I can still manually upload. When using the onedrive up on my new PC, it will not allow me to select the camera roll folder, or any other folder.

    Hello

Are you saying the upload part from your iphone is working, but it just won't reflect on your computer?

When you tried to select the Camera roll folder, did you go to OneDrive settings > Accounts > Choose folders? If this is where you went, what happened? Is it grayed out, or did it give any error message? Please provide a bit more information if you can so we can decide what you can do next.

Follow these steps on the iPhone and in OneDrive to restore automatic photo upload and address the Camera Roll folder issue on the PC.

    1. Verify camera upload is enabled on iPhone
      1. Open the OneDrive app on iPhone.
      2. Tap the account image.
      3. Tap Settings > Camera Upload.
      4. Make sure Camera Upload is turned on for the correct OneDrive account.
      5. Turn on Include Videos if videos should upload as well.
      6. Keep the OneDrive app open for a while so the camera roll can update.
    2. Check connectivity and background behavior
      1. Ensure the iPhone has a good Wi‑Fi or mobile data connection.
      2. If not on Wi‑Fi, open OneDrive mobile settings and confirm camera upload on metered connections is not switched off.
      3. Enable the device’s Location Services, as location changes are used to trigger background activity.
      4. Do not force close OneDrive; Apple recommends leaving the app running in the background for automatic uploads to work.
    3. Fix common camera roll upload issues
      1. Turn off camera upload in OneDrive app settings.
      2. Go to the OneDrive website and rename the Camera Roll folder.
      3. Make sure there is sufficient Microsoft storage; if storage is exceeded, new photos cannot upload.
      4. On iPhone, if iCloud Photos optimization is enabled, turn it off for testing: Settings > iCloud > Photos and clear Optimize Storage, because OneDrive cannot upload photos that are only optimized/streamed from iCloud.
      5. Turn camera upload back on in the OneDrive app to restart the upload.
      6. Check if some photos appear under Year > Month subfolders within Camera Roll in OneDrive.
    4. Use Bedtime Backup for large backlogs
      1. In OneDrive on iOS, if some items show as Remaining, tap Remaining and select Get Started.
      2. Connect the device to Wi‑Fi and power, then select Turn on Bedtime Backup.
      3. After uploads complete, choose Turn Off Bedtime Backup if desired.
    5. Why the Camera Roll folder cannot be selected on the new PC
      • The iPhone Camera Roll is uploaded from the phone; the OneDrive sync client on the PC only syncs what is already in OneDrive. It does not control the iPhone’s Camera Roll directly.
      • After fixing camera upload on iPhone and letting photos upload to OneDrive, the Camera Roll (and its subfolders) will appear under Pictures in OneDrive and can then be synced to the PC like any other OneDrive folder.

If, after these steps, new photos still only upload manually, repeat step 3 (toggle camera upload off/on and rename the Camera Roll folder online) and verify storage is not exceeded.
