Feature request: Allow users to manually re-enable Smart Charging in the Surface app

Please add a manual option in the Surface app to re-enable Smart Charging after it has been paused.

If users can manually pause Smart Charging, they should also be able to manually re-enable it. Automatic re-engagement is a good idea, but users should still have the option to turn it back on immediately if they want to.

There are many posts from people running into this same issue, which suggests this is a common point of confusion and frustration. Adding a manual re-enable option would make the feature clearer and give users better control over battery health.

    Hi Tim,

I hear you, this is a valid usability gap, and you’re not missing anything. Smart Charging is a feature people use specifically to protect battery health, so it’s reasonable to expect clear control over turning it back on once it’s been paused.

However, please note that this is a user‑to‑user support forum, limited to software troubleshooting. Moderators and contributors here cannot directly change product behavior, add features, or access back‑end systems.

Given these limitations, the most appropriate avenue for your feature request is the Feedback Hub app. Press Win + F on your PC, selecting Surface as the product category, and posting under Power and battery.

That feedback channel is reviewed by the product teams responsible for Surface hardware and power management, and it’s the only channel where requests like this can be tracked and considered for future updates.

Your request totally makes sense, and the Feedback Hub is the right place to have it officially reviewed.
