Hello Dave Neil,
In MSFS 2024, error 2047 is a cloud save sync failure — the sim is having trouble syncing your save state to the cloud. This is not a corrupt installation and your personal data (logbook, flight hours, achievements) is tied to your Microsoft/Xbox account, so that's safe.
Here's what I'd suggest trying, in order:
Step 1 — Rule out add-on conflicts first
- Navigate to your MSFS 2024 install directory — by default it's usually under: C:\Users[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Packages
- Find the Community folder and rename it to something like Community_backup
- Find the StreamedPackages folder and clear its contents
- Relaunch the sim and check if the error still appears
Step 2 — Full reinstall
If it's still happening, a full reinstall is the next reasonable step. Before uninstalling:
- Back up your control bindings — found in the same Packages directory under UserCfg.opt
- Back up your graphics/settings file if you've customized them
Your logbook and account-linked progress will be fine — those are stored server-side under your Microsoft/Xbox account.
To uninstall, go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, search for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and select Uninstall. Reinstall via the Microsoft Store or Xbox app.
