To use existing Skype credit to call phone numbers, the call must be made through the Skype Dial Pad, not the regular Teams Free calling UI.
Use one of these options:
- Use Skype Dial Pad on the web
- Go to calling.web.skype.com.
- Sign in with the same Skype account that has the active credit/subscription.
- If the account has an active subscription or Skype Credit, the dial pad opens automatically and a phone number can be entered and called.
- If a message appears saying there is no paid product, either the wrong account is signed in or the credit is inactive.
- Use Skype Dial Pad inside Microsoft Teams Free (mobile or desktop) First-time setup in Teams Free:
- Make sure the latest version of Microsoft Teams Free is installed or updated.
- Sign in to Teams Free with the Skype sign-in that has the subscription/credit.
- In Teams Free (desktop):
- Select Settings and more (top-right).
- Select Skype Dial Pad.
- If there is active subscription/credit, the Skype Dial Pad will be visible. If not, the option will not appear.
- In Teams Free mobile app:
- Open the app and tap the profile picture.
- Tap Skype Dial Pad.
- If there is active subscription/credit, the dial pad will be visible.
If the Skype Dial Pad option is missing:
- This usually means there is no active subscription or Skype Credit on the signed-in account.
- Go to the Skype My Account page and check the Skype Credit status.
- If the credit has been deactivated (for example, not used for 180 days), reactivate it following the instructions in the My Account area or the reactivation guidance linked from the articles.
- After reactivation, reopen Teams Free and repeat the steps above; the Skype Dial Pad should then appear.
Note: Teams Free itself does not provide PSTN calling; calling phone numbers from Teams Free relies on the Skype Dial Pad and requires an active Skype subscription, Skype number, or Skype Credit.
