i have lost my "Documents" folder with files saved to OneDrive. they were there yesterday.

i opened a recent file i created in Excel and here's the error message i'm getting:

Sorry, we couldn't find C:\Users\Carol\Documents\2026.....

How can i retrieve the folder?

Another option is Restore your OneDrive, which can roll your OneDrive back to an earlier point within the last 30 days if you have a Microsoft 365 subscription. After that, also make sure the OneDrive desktop app on the PC is signed in to the correct account and that Documents is still included in OneDrive folder backup, because that can affect where Office looks for the file.

Hi! Since the files were saved to OneDrive and were still there yesterday, the first thing to check is the OneDrive website with the same Microsoft account and look in My files > Documents, Recent, and Recycle bin. If the Documents folder or the missing files are in the OneDrive Recycle Bin, you can restore them from there; for personal OneDrive accounts, deleted items are normally kept for 30 days. If you can still see the files on OneDrive on the web but Excel is looking for C:\Users\Carol\Documents..., that usually means the local PC folder path changed or OneDrive folder backup/sync is no longer pointing to the same location.
