A device update is failing and it is preventing subsequent updates from running. it is a surface laptop trying update an HP usb driver, how do i stop this update from running - i can't seem to get a copy of the windows update show hide utility

Open Device Manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
Look for anything related to HP / Unknown USB Device
Right-click → Uninstall device
Tick Delete the driver software for this device
Restart your laptop
In Start Search type Gpedit.msc and hit the Enter key
Now locate:
Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Update
Enable:
Do not include drivers with Windows Updates
