Tracking, updating, and organizing tasks within Microsoft Teams or integrated apps
Dear Esther Doerpinghaus ,
Currently, Microsoft Planner is limited to a maximum of 25 labels per plan, and this is a fixed product limitation. There is currently no supported way to increase this number, and Microsoft has not announced any plans or fixes to raise the label limit.
Labels in Planner are intended to be a lightweight way to visually categorize tasks, rather than a full tagging system. Because of this design approach, Microsoft currently enforces a hard cap to keep plans manageable and consistent across users.
If your team needs more flexibility to organize tasks, one practical workaround is to make greater use of buckets alongside labels. Buckets are often used for broader groupings such as project phases, work types, or departments, while labels can be reserved for cross‑cutting attributes like priority, status, or dependencies. Using both together can help reduce the need for a large number of labels while still keeping tasks easy to filter and review.

If this limitation has a significant impact on your workflows, I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft. You can do this through: Planner · Community where feature requests are reviewed and can be voted on by other users. While this does not guarantee a change, it is the best way to ensure your use case is visible to the product team.

While I don’t have access to internal systems or test devices required to resolve backend/account issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations.
