Have you run the Surface Diagnostic Tool?

    Update Windows

    If required, try a Reset.

If all the above fails then:

    1. Sign in to Microsoft account | Select device for service.
    2. Choose the device that needs service, select Next and then follow the instructions to complete your service request.

To request a warranty replacement for the Surface Laptop 7th Gen, use the official Microsoft device service process.

    1. Go to the Microsoft device services page: https://account.microsoft.com/devices.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the Surface Laptop.
    3. Select the Surface Laptop 7th Gen from the device list. If it does not appear, select Register device and add it, then select it and choose Next.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a service request. Describe the symptoms (sudden shutdowns, frequent freezes after startup, troubleshooting already attempted).
    5. Complete the service order submission. If the device is in warranty and eligible, the system will guide through warranty service options. If it is a commercial/business device, service may need to be initiated by an admin via the Surface Management Portal or Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

    Before sending the device:

    • Back up important data to another computer, external drive, or a cloud service such as OneDrive, because data cannot be recovered from a serviced/replaced device.
    • Prepare the device for shipping as instructed in the service order flow (packing, shipping label, etc.).

After the device is sent, Microsoft will send either a repaired device or a replacement (often refurbished). The post-service warranty is 90 days or the remainder of the original warranty, whichever is longer.

If the Surface is owned by an organization (business/education):

    • An IT/admin contact may need to open the request using:
      • Surface Management Portal in the Intune admin center, or
      • Microsoft Surface support in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center under Support → Microsoft Surface support → Warranty service & repair → Create service request.

If the device remains unresponsive or Windows continues to freeze after basic troubleshooting, Microsoft recommends proceeding with service using the same device services process above.
