This is happening to multiple people in our organization. We are not recreating or adding these planners either for them to be totaling up. These numbers just started showing up one day after we had been using the same tab for months with no numbers.

    Hi @Barry Jacobsen,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Based on the behavior described and the provided screenshot, the "(7)" likely refers to a Microsoft Teams UI overflow indicator rather than a specific update or task count within Planner itself.

In most Microsoft Teams builds, parentheses near the channel header appear when there are more tabs than the current window width can display. This often occurs after an organizational update or a change in screen resolution.

To confirm if this is indeed a display behavior, please try the following:

    • Expand the Window: Increase the width of your Teams client. If the number decreases or disappears, it confirms the value represents "hidden" tabs that cannot fit in the top row.
    • Check the dropdown menu: Click the chevron or "More" dropdown next to the number. You should see a list of the additional tabs currently stored in the overflow area.

It is important to note that Microsoft Teams channel tabs do not currently support "unread" or "activity" badges, as standard notification counters are typically reserved for the Activity Feed, Chat, and Team icons in the sidebar. If the "(7)" appears as part of the actual tab text, such as Planner (7), Teams may be automatically differentiating between multiple tabs that share the same name. In this case, I recommend reviewing the channel to remove or rename any duplicate tabs to ensure clarity.

Additionally, if your channel has reached the overflow limit, you may find it helpful to:

    1. Audit current tabs and remove those that are no longer in use.
    2. Reorder tabs so that high-priority tools remain visible at the beginning of the row.

Please let me know if the number persists after widening the window; I would be happy to investigate further.

    Looking forward to your reply.
