    Hi Nate Green

To enable Zone Redundancy for Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server in West US 2, please submit a quota request as shown in the Azure portal.

    Steps:

    1. Go to Azure Portal → Help + Support → Create a support request
    2. Select:
      • Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas)
        • Service: Service and Subscription Limits (Quotas)
        1. Under Quota type, select: Region access with zonal dependency (availability zones)
        2. Choose Location: West US 2
        3. Enter the Expected consumption (based on planned MySQL Flexible Server usage)
        4. Submit the request

Once the quota request is approved, Zone Redundancy should become available in the portal and via API for new deployments in the region (subject to regional capacity).

    Hi Nate Green

Although Azure Database for MySQL – Flexible Server supports zone‑redundant high availability, availability depends on regional and SKU capacity. In West US 2, the zone‑redundant HA option is currently disabled in the portal and API due to platform‑side restrictions, even though the documentation lists the region as supported. This is not a configuration issue and cannot be overridden via portal, CLI, or ARM.

If zone redundancy is required immediately, deploy in a different region where HA capacity is available. Otherwise, deploy without HA and enable it later when the restriction is lifted.

Hope this helps, Please let us know if you have any questions and concerns.
