To reduce the risk of another problematic update rather than trying to block updates via account sign‑out, use the built‑in pause options:

1. Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
2. Choose one of the following:
   • Select Pause updates for 7 days, or
   • Select Advanced options, then under Pause updates choose a date for updates to resume.

Note: After the pause limit is reached, the latest updates must be installed before pausing again.

If the concern is reboots at inconvenient times, configure restarts instead of trying to block updates:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
