    Hi @Timothy E. Stepp

Thank you for reaching out and sharing experience regarding joined communities cannot be found when switching from Yammer to Viva Engage.

I can totally understand the inconvenience this issue may have caused to your work. This typically happens for two reasons. One, Viva Engage (especially in Teams) does not always display every community in the left navigation by default, so some communities only appear when you open the full list under “Your communities.”  Two, older Yammer links can redirect you back to your default internal communities when the original community is not currently in your accessible community list in Viva Engage (for example, due to network context, membership state, or access changes during the transition).  Updates to membership and permissions can also take time to replicate, so a community may be temporarily missing even if nothing was deleted.

Another user has raised the same concern in the forum recently, so it looks like this can happen for others during the transition as well. You can review that thread here: Not able to find my yammer communities in Viva Engage - Microsoft Q&A

To help find the communities you have previously joined in Yammer, I would recommend trying these steps

Step 1. Check your email for a direct community link  Please try searching your email inbox for messages related to the community, such as the community name. In many cases, notification emails or past digests still contain a direct link that opens the community even if it’s not showing in the list yet.

Step 2. Browse your community list inside Viva Engage  Go to the Viva Engage home page, select Communities, then open My communities and see whether it appears there.   If you do see it but can’t open it, or if it’s a private community, it may prompt you to request access and then wait for approval (this behavior has been observed by others as well).

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow the steps above and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can continue working together to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out so I can continue to support you. If you found the response useful, please consider marking it as accepted, as this may help other community members who are looking for similar guidance.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.

In Viva Engage and its integration in Microsoft Teams, communities are still present but may appear in different places than they did in Yammer.

    To locate them:

    1. In Microsoft Teams, open the Communities experience
      • If the left navigation is in separate view for chats and channels, communities are part of the “Teams and channels” app.
      • Look for the Communities section in the left rail.
    2. Check for favorites and “More” communities
      • Any communities that were marked as favorites appear under the Teams Favorites section.
      • If there are more than 5 non-favorite communities, only top communities, official communities, and communities where you are an admin or expert are shown directly in the navigation.
      • Select the More menu next to the Communities folder name to open the Your communities page, where all other communities are listed.
    3. Adjust which communities show in the navigation
      • On the Your communities page, use show or hide to control which communities appear in the left nav.
      • Use Move to reorder communities and customize the navigation.
    4. Confirm and re-create favorites if needed
      • When the Teams communities feature is turned on by an admin, existing favorite communities from Engage are imported once into Teams.
      • Any new favorites set later in Viva Engage do not automatically sync to Teams; they must be marked as favorites separately in Teams.

If communities still seem missing, use Viva Engage directly:

    1. Open Viva Engage (web or app) and check the left navigation for your communities.
    2. Use Discover Communities and Search to find and rejoin any communities that are not currently listed.
