Hi Max Andersen,
Thanks for sharing the details. That “split‑second ring” followed by “Couldn't complete call. Check your network, then try again.” can sometimes occur on iPad when Microsoft Teams is signed in successfully (for example, chat works), but the call delivery through iPadOS doesn’t complete as expected. Something that can be more noticeable when the iPad is locked.
To help narrow this down, here are a few focused checks that are specific to iPad behavior:
1) Quick lock‑screen test
- Keep the iPad unlocked and leave Teams open in the foreground, then try an incoming/outgoing call.
- If it works unlocked but fails when locked, this points to the call integration/background wake-up path rather than your internet connection.
2) Toggle Teams “Integrated calling”
On the iPad, open Teams > tap your profile picture > Settings > Calling.
- Turn Integrated calling OFF, then test a call.
- If needed, turn it back ON and test again (this can occasionally refresh the calling integration).
3) Confirm iPad settings that affect call delivery
iPad Settings > Teams
- Microphone = ON
- Camera = ON (if using video)
iPad Settings > Notifications > Teams
- Allow Notifications = ON
- Sounds and Banners = ON
iPad Settings > General > Background App Refresh
- Background App Refresh = ON
- Teams is allowed
While testing, it’s also a good idea to temporarily disable Low Power Mode, as it can limit background activity.
If you’re able to share your iPadOS version and whether calls work only while the device is unlocked, that would help narrow down the next best troubleshooting step.
Please let me know if this proves useful to you, or if you would like further assistance.
I'm looking forward to your reply.
