How can I change the color of some existing ink strokes in Microsoft Whiteboard?

I created the whiteboard with dark background and white ink. I want to swap background color and ink color since I need to print this whiteboard. I can change background color easily but it seems like I cannot edit the color of existing ink strokes. How can I fix that?

    Dear @Liangyu Liu,

I completely understand how frustrating it can be when you’ve put so much effort into creating a detailed whiteboard. While that feature isn't available yet, I want to make the manual process as easy as possible for you.

To save you time, the most efficient way to change your ink is using the Lasso Select tool:

    1. Select the Lasso Tool: Click the Lasso icon on the toolbar (or simply press L).
    2. Batch Selection: Instead of selecting one by one, draw a large circle around entire sections of your notes.
    3. Update Color: From the floating menu that appears, click the Ink Color circle and choose a dark color (like black). This will update all selected strokes instantly. For a detailed walkthrough, you may refer to the official documentation: Select handwriting and ink with the Lasso tool - Microsoft Support

Tip: I recommend changing the ink colors while your background is still dark, so you can clearly see the white strokes you are selecting. Once the ink is dark, you can then switch the background to white.

Your experience is a perfect example of why an "Invert Colors" feature is needed. I would truly value it if you could share this struggle directly with the engineering team. Your voice helps prioritize these improvements:

    • In-App Feedback: Click the Settings (Gear icon) in Whiteboard > Send Feedback.
    • Feedback Portal: You can also post your suggestion at the Microsoft Feedback Portal. Upvoting similar ideas there is the fastest way to get the developers' attention.

Please note that as community moderators, we cannot change product design, but we can guide you to the right channel, so your feedback reaches the engineering team.

Thank you for your patience and for being a part of the Microsoft community. I am here to help if you have any other questions or if the Lasso tool gives you any trouble.

Existing ink strokes in Microsoft Whiteboard cannot have their color changed after they are drawn.

To get the ink in a different color, the strokes must be re‑drawn using a pen with the desired color:

    1. Change the board background to the new color.
    2. Select Inking from the left-hand menu.
    3. Choose a pen, then select it again to pick the new ink color and thickness.
    4. Re‑ink over the existing content (or erase and redraw using the new color).

Whiteboard supports choosing ink colors and thickness before or while drawing, but the provided documentation does not describe a way to recolor already‑created ink strokes.
