Error code 7Q6CA and the “Verify it’s you” loop indicate a Microsoft account sign-in / security verification problem, not a Minecraft or Edge bug. The account is effectively blocked behind security checks, so the only supported way to regain access is through the official Microsoft account recovery and verification flows.

    Follow these steps in order:

    1. Use the official sign-in helper
    • Go to the Microsoft sign-in helper tool: Sign-in helper.
    • Enter the email/phone/Skype ID of the original Microsoft account that was used for Minecraft and Xbox.
    • Let the tool run and follow the guidance it gives (it can detect common sign-in and security issues and route to the right flow).
    1. Try standard account recovery If normal sign-in fails, use the official recovery form for the old account:
    2. Go to Recover your account: Recover your account.
    3. Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name of the old account.
    4. Choose where to receive a security code (email/phone) and complete the verification.
    5. Set a new password when prompted.

    Tips from the official guidance:

    • Make sure the email domain is correct (for example, .com vs .co.uk).
    • Check for spelling differences in the name part (for example, rachel vs rachael).
    • If the email isn’t recognized but the account had another alias or phone number, try that instead.

If the username and password are correct but still do not work, follow the same “Recover your account” flow above. If the system says “We couldn’t find an account with that username,” use any other alias/phone that was ever attached to that Microsoft account.

    1. If verification codes are the problem If the issue is that verification codes are not arriving or a method is blocked:
    • Try a different browser or InPrivate/Incognito mode.
    • Clear browser cache and cookies, then try again.
    • Try a different network (for example, mobile hotspot instead of home Wi‑Fi).
    • If there are multiple verification methods on the account, choose a different one.

If codes still do not arrive, the guidance is:

    • Choose another verification method if possible, or wait until access to the listed phone/email is available.
    • Support agents cannot send verification codes or change security info for the account.

See: Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues.

    1. If recovery fails or the account appears blocked If the recovery form or sign-in helper still does not let access the old account:
    2. Fill out the detailed Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR) at https://account.live.com/acsr (from the context) for the original account.
    3. Provide as many accurate details as possible (previous passwords, approximate creation date, services used like Xbox/Minecraft, etc.).
    4. Submit from a device and location normally used with that account.

If the form is rejected repeatedly, community and Q&A guidance is clear: only the automated recovery process can restore access. Forum moderators and normal support channels cannot bypass or override these security checks.

    1. Contact Microsoft Support (if still locked out) If the automated tools do not resolve it, sign in with any working Microsoft account (even the new one) and contact support:
    • Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
    • Enter a description like “Microsoft account sign-in blocked / error 7Q6CA / cannot verify identity.”
    • Select Get Help, then scroll down and choose Contact Support.
    • Pick the product area related to account security (for example, “Manage Account Security”) and use chat/callback if offered.

Support cannot reset passwords or bypass security, but can confirm what options remain and ensure the correct recovery path is being used.

    1. About Minecraft and Xbox access Once the original Microsoft account is recovered and can sign in again:
    • Sign into that account in the Minecraft Launcher on Mac and Windows.
    • Sign into that same account on Xbox / Xbox app to restore the gamertag and purchases.

If the original Microsoft account cannot be recovered at all, Minecraft-specific purchases may require contacting Minecraft Support separately (as suggested in the Q&A context) to see if any alternative options exist.
