Cloudflare doesn't work.

Since some time last year, Cloudflare has never worked except once. It keeps resetting itself. How can I fix this? I read that I can try to clear DNS, but every method to access it seems to require the Windows button which I don't have on the Xbox. (I don't want to clear my cookies unless I have to, and I think I did at some point only for it to not work.)

I don't know what it means that Cloudflare "doesn't work" and you haven't explained it.

To choose a third-party DNS service like Cloudflare, instead of using your ISP's own DNS service, sign in to your router's administration console and look for the menu that deals with choosing a DNS provider. There you can enter Cloudflare's DNS addresses.

Cloudflare-based sites or DNS sometimes fail in Edge when there are local DNS or browser issues. On Xbox, options are limited, but these steps can help without using the Windows key:

    1. Restart the console
    • Fully power down the Xbox (not just sleep/standby), wait 30 seconds, then start it again. This clears some cached network state that can affect Cloudflare.
    1. Check the network by trying other browsers/devices
    • Use another device on the same network (phone/PC) and try the same Cloudflare sites.
      • If they also fail, the issue is likely the router/ISP DNS.
      • If they work elsewhere but not on Xbox, the problem is local to the console/Edge app.
    1. Clear Edge browsing data on Xbox (Does not require a Windows key; done inside Edge.)
    • Open Microsoft Edge on Xbox.
    • Open the menu (the equivalent of Settings and more – usually the “…” button).
    • Go to History > Open history page.
    • Choose Delete browsing data.
    • Set Time range to All time.
    • Select at least Browsing history and Cached images and files.
    • Select Clear now. This targets cache and history; cookies can be left unchecked if avoiding sign-outs.
    1. If still broken, clear all Edge data
    • Same path: Settings and more > History > Open history page > Delete browsing data.
    • Choose All time and select all boxes, then Clear now. This is more aggressive and may sign out of sites, but can fix persistent Cloudflare failures.
    1. Check for network/DNS issues on the router/ISP Because Xbox cannot run ipconfig /flushdns, use the router instead:
    • Restart the modem and router (power off both for 30 seconds, then power on modem, wait, then router).
    • After they are fully online, test Cloudflare sites again in Edge on Xbox. If other devices also have trouble with Cloudflare, contact the ISP and mention DNS issues, or change DNS on the router to a stable provider.
    1. If Edge itself is unstable On Windows, Edge can be repaired via Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair. On Xbox, the equivalent is to:
    • Close Edge completely.
    • If possible, uninstall and reinstall Edge from Microsoft Store on Xbox. This refreshes the app without affecting the console OS.

If none of the above helps and only Cloudflare-backed sites fail while others work, the most likely causes are ISP DNS problems or router-level filtering that interferes with Cloudflare; these must be adjusted on the router or by the ISP, not on the Xbox itself.
