Dear @Thomas Rouge,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft 365 Q&A forum community support team. I understand how vital it is for your math tutoring sessions that every student can see your work. To ensure all your students can access the Whiteboard, please follow these specific technical steps:
Step 1: Check How You Schedule the Meeting
The way a meeting is created often determines who can see the Whiteboard.
- If you schedule a meeting within a specific Teams "Channel," external or anonymous users will be blocked from seeing the Whiteboard.
- Instead, schedule a regular calendar meeting (via the Teams Calendar tab) and send the link to your students. This approach is much more reliable for external participants.
Step 2: Update Access Policy (For IT Admins)
Since you mentioned being part of a grant program, you may need to ask your college's IT department to enable access for anonymous users via PowerShell. They should run the following command:
Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy –Identity Global –AllowWhiteboards $true
Note: Once this is changed, it can take about 60 minutes to take effect.
Here's an example to test:

Step 3: Encourage Students to Sign In
The Whiteboard works best when students are recognized as part of your school's network.
- Sign-in: Encourage students to sign in with their school-provided Microsoft account before clicking the join link.
- Guest Status: If they join as an authenticated guest rather than an anonymous user, they will have much better visibility of your shared content.
Step 4: Alternative Sharing Methods
If students still cannot see the board natively, try these quick workarounds during your session:
- Share the Link: Inside the Whiteboard, click the "..." in the upper-right corner, select Copy link, and paste it into the meeting chat. Students with a valid login can then open it directly in their web browser.
- Desktop Sharing: As a last resort, click the Share content icon in Teams and choose to share your Screen instead of the Whiteboard app. This ensures that anyone who can see your video feed can see your math problems.

I hope this helps you get back to focusing on your students. Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I'm looking forward for your reply.
