Teams desktop app: Teams and Channels disappearing

Hello,

I am a member of 20 Teams teams, but some of them keep disappearing from the Teams section in the desktop application, even after I click on “See all your teams.” It is impossible to find the missing teams using the Search function.

However, when I open Teams on the web, all 20 teams are listed.

Interestingly, when I perform some actions in a missing team using Teams on the web, like opening a file or checking the activity, the team appears in my desktop app within a few minutes. Also, if someone tags me in one of the missing teams, it appears there as well. However, this is extremely inconvenient for my daily work routine.

I have tried repairing and resetting Teams. I have also logged out and back in several times. However, the problem keeps coming back.

Is this an issue with the Teams desktop app? How can I resolve it?

Thank you in advance.

This behavior is typically caused by how Teams shows, hides, and organizes teams and channels in the desktop client rather than by a loss of membership.

In the current Teams experience, some teams can be automatically moved to Hidden teams if they have not been visited for a while. Those teams still exist and still receive activity, but they no longer appear in the main Teams list until they are explicitly shown again.

To check and correct this in the desktop app:

    1. Go to the Teams view.
    2. Scroll to the bottom of the list and look for Hidden teams.
    3. Expand Hidden teams and locate the missing teams.
    4. For each missing team, hover over the team name, select More options …, then select Show to move it back into the visible list.

If the issue is that specific channels within a team are missing rather than whole teams:

    1. At the bottom of the chats and channels list, select See all your teams and channels (or See all your teams).
    2. Select the relevant team.
    3. Next to any channel that should be visible, select Show.

    Notes:

    • Hiding all channels in a team also hides the team from the main list; showing at least one channel brings the team back.
    • Hidden channels and teams still receive notifications for @mentions, tags, and followed threads, which matches the behavior described (they reappear after activity).

After explicitly showing the teams/channels that should always be visible, the desktop app should keep them in the main list and align more closely with what is seen in Teams on the web.
