A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Microsoft personal and Microsoft 365 work or school accounts, including their OneDrive storage, cannot be merged or combined into a single account. The same applies to two separate Microsoft personal accounts: they cannot be linked, merged, or combined into one, and data such as purchases, subscriptions, or stored files cannot be automatically transferred between them.
For OneDrive specifically, storage for each account remains separate. It is possible to sign in to both accounts side by side and manually move or copy content:
- Sign in to OneDrive with the account to keep (the pm.me address).
- In a separate browser window or OneDrive client session, sign in with the account to retire (the gmail.com address).
- Manually copy or drag and drop files and folders from the OneDrive associated with the gmail.com account into the OneDrive associated with the pm.me account. This preserves the files but does not merge the accounts.
- After confirming that all needed files and data have been copied and that no services still rely on the gmail.com account, the gmail.com Microsoft account can be closed separately. Closing the account does not transfer any remaining data, so all needed content must be moved beforehand.
Email addresses already associated with an existing Microsoft account cannot be added as aliases to another Microsoft account, and existing Outlook.com-style addresses cannot be moved between accounts. Subscriptions are also tied to the specific Microsoft account and cannot be merged; they must be managed or canceled separately under each account.
