Storage quota issue with Personal Vault in OneDrive

Whenever I try to upload files to my Personal Vault in OneDrive, I get an error saying "There is not enough space in your Personal Vault to complete this action." When I expand the error message, it says "Quota limit reached". It does this with any file type. I have no problems uploading files to the regular non-vault side of OneDrive. While I am using a Mac running macOS, I am doing this upload entirely through the OneDrive website using the Google Chrome web browser, not the installed system app. Additionally, I had no issues uploading files to my Personal Vault when I last did it from this computer using the same method just a few weeks ago. I am currently using 959 GB of my 1 TB OneDrive storage space allowance, and the Personal Vault is only storing 150 MB, mostly PDFs. I cannot find this particular issue referenced in any of the current help pages. Please help?!

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Even though your Personal Vault only has about 150 MB, it still uses the same 1 TB OneDrive storage.

Right now, you are using 959 GB out of 1 TB.

That is very close to full.

When storage is almost full, OneDrive often blocks uploads to Personal Vault first. That is why you are seeing the “quota limit reached” message.

You'll need to delete some files or buy more storage, here's how: https://support.microsoft.com/office/my-onedrive-says-it-s-full-f0a8a922-d971-497e-b0c6-7b9a47c617c0

After freeing space (or purchasing additional storage), it can take up to 24 to 48 hours for everything to fully update across your account. I’d recommend waiting that time and check again OneDrive after that.

If the update is still pending after 24 hours, you can try unlinking and relinking your OneDrive account, or resetting it. "Unlink and re-link OneDrive" https://support.microsoft.com/office/unlink-and-re-link-onedrive-3c4680bf-cc36-4204-9ca5-e7b24cdd23ea#id0ebbh=mac

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Regards,

    John J.D.
