Thanks for sharing the details, Khalifah! Try to create a “Local Sync Library” and Point OneDrive to It

This method makes OneDrive treat any folder on any drive as a secondary OneDrive sync root without moving or linking files.

    Works for:

    • D:\ folders
    • External drives
    • Deep folder paths
    • Large folders
    • Without mklink
    • Without moving the folder into OneDrive

Step 1 - Quit OneDrive completely

Right-click the OneDrive icon → Quit OneDrive

    Step 2 - Open Run (Win + R)

    onedrive.exe /configure

This loads the OneDrive configuration wizard in advanced mode.

Step 3 - Sign in normally

But when it asks for "Choose your OneDrive folder location", do this:

    • Click Change Location
    • Browse to:
      D:\work\thiswork\backup
    • Select that folder

Step 4 - OneDrive will ask: “This folder isn’t empty. Use it anyway?”

    Click Use this location

This will create a hidden metadata section inside the folder, allowing OneDrive to use it as a valid sync root without relocating your existing content.

Step 5 - Choose what to sync

If this is your personal OneDrive, you can choose which cloud folders mirror into this directory.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
