Microsoft Surface Laptop 7, freezing on UNDOCKING

My Surface Pro Laptop 2024 keeps freezing / slowing down whenever I undock it from dock (connected to Surface Dock).

It sometimes takes 5-10 minutes plus to come alive again. It is typically quicker to turn it on and off again which isn't really functional!

The mouse still works but when I come into my browser (using Chrome) i can type words into the browser but whenever i click to open a tab or press enter nothing happens (e.g. the website I type will refuse to load, clicking on tabs will be blank)

Any advice? thank you!

I've explored this deeply.

It sounds like you're experiencing significant performance issues with your Surface Laptop when undocking from the Surface Dock. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to address the freezing and slow response times:

    1. Update Drivers and Firmware: Ensure that your Surface Laptop has the latest drivers and firmware installed. You can download the latest updates from the Download drivers and firmware for Surface page.
    2. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
    3. Manage Background Applications: Sometimes, background applications can cause performance issues. Check the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see if any applications are using excessive resources when undocking.
    4. Performance Monitor: Use Windows Performance Monitor to analyze how programs affect your laptop's performance. You can create performance logs to identify any bottlenecks.
    5. Memory Dump Analysis: If the freezing persists, consider generating a memory dump file when the issue occurs. This can help in diagnosing the problem. Instructions for generating a memory dump can be found in the Advanced troubleshooting for Windows freezes documentation.
    6. Reset the Surface Laptop: If none of the above solutions work, consider resetting your Surface Laptop to its factory settings. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.

If the problem continues after trying these steps, it may be beneficial to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance.
