There's something wrong with my widgets app. It started having problems several weeks ago after one of the Edge updates. Is there something that didn't update correctly or am I missing something else?

If your widgets app is experiencing issues after an Edge update, it could be related to several factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that both Microsoft Edge and your Windows operating system are fully updated. Sometimes, subsequent updates can fix bugs introduced in previous versions.
    2. Disable Tracking Protection: If you are using tracking protection in Microsoft Edge, it may interfere with the loading of widgets. You can disable tracking protection by going to Settings > Privacy, search, and services and adjusting the settings in the Tracking prevention section.
    3. Clear Cache and Cookies: Clearing the browser's cache and cookies can resolve issues related to loading content. You can do this in Edge by going to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data.
    4. Check for Known Issues: Sometimes, specific versions of Edge may have known issues. You can check the Microsoft Edge known issues documentation for any reported problems related to widgets.
    5. Reinstall the App: If the problem persists, consider uninstalling and reinstalling the widgets app to ensure it is properly configured.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to look for further support from Microsoft or community forums for more specific guidance.

Thanks for sharing the details, Cathy! Try to repair or reinstall WebView2 (Widgets critically depend on it)

Windows Widgets run on Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. If WebView2 breaks after an Edge update, Widgets fail, glitch, or won’t load at all.

    Step 1 - Press Win + R, type:

    appwiz.cpl

Step 2 - Look for Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.

    Step 3 - Select it → Repair.

If Repair is not available, proceed below.

Step 4 - If still broken, download the latest runtime:

    https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/

Choose Evergreen Standalone Installer → Install → Reboot.

This alone fixes the majority of widget failures linked to Edge updates.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
