I have crated a VWAN and created an IPSEC tunnel on it. But the VWAN gateway is having a default BGP AS number of 65515 , I wanted to change it to a different AS number. Is it possible to change the AS number or I have to create a separate virtual gateway.

In Azure Virtual WAN, the default BGP ASN is set to 65515, and it cannot be changed. If you want to use a different ASN, you will need to create a separate virtual network gateway. The existing Virtual WAN does not support changing the ASN for the Virtual Hubs or any gateways after they have been created.

    Hi Navaneetharaj Mohanraj-a,

Thanks for Posting question in Microsoft Q&A forum,

I see you're trying to change the default BGP AS number for your Virtual WAN (VWAN).

Currently, in Azure, you cannot change the BGP AS number of a Virtual WAN after it has been created. The default number 65515 is assigned to a new VWAN and is not modifiable. If you need a different AS number, you will need to create a separate virtual hub or gateway specifically configured with your desired AS number from the beginning.

    Here’s what you can do:

    1. Create a new Virtual Hub or Gateway with the desired BGP AS number.
    2. Migrate your configuration over to the new hub if necessary.

I hope this clears things up! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
