Dear @Oregon Slacker,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
First of all, sorry to hear about your admin’s health situation.
To help me narrow down the issue, do you want to move the domain to a new tenant, or do you prefer to keep everything in the existing tenant? and can you access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center?
In this case, if you can access Admin, immediately add a second Global Administrator and store credentials safely. (Add backup Global Admin with strong password, security keys, and recovery methods).
For more information: Add users and assign licenses in Microsoft 365 and Assign admin roles in the Microsoft 365 admin center
Option 1: If staying in the same tenant, mail remains in-place.
You can create a one‑time backup (PST export from Outlook or use eDiscovery/Content Search) if you want an extra safety net. For more information: Export eDiscovery search results to a PST file
If you want migrate email to Microsoft 365 or Office 365 from other systems, the administrators can migrate mailboxes from Exchange Server or migrate email from another IMAP-enabled email system. And your users can import their own email, contacts, and other mailbox information to a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 mailbox created for them. Your organization can also work with a partner to migrate email.

Option 2: However, if you decide to move to a new Microsoft 365 tenant, I strongly recommend contacting Microsoft Support for a clear explanation and hands-on assistance. They can guide you through:
- Domain removal and re-verification steps (critical for moving xyzbusiness.com to the new tenant).
- Mailbox migration options (whether using PST export/import or a migration tool).
- DNS updates for MX, SPF, DKIM, and Autodiscover to ensure mail flow works correctly after the cutover.
- Microsoft Support can also confirm licensing implications and help avoid downtime during the transition.
Admin can create a support ticket to Microsoft in the Microsoft Admin Center. For more information: Get support for Microsoft 365 for business
If your Microsoft 365 subscription was purchased through a third-party retailer (such as GoDaddy or another partner), please reach out to that provider first. They can assist you directly with account and domain management and, if needed, help you create a support ticket with Microsoft on your behalf.
I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.
