Hello,

I am trying to access my alternative email account but microsoft has locked me out. I don't remember my password but I have the mobile number that is set up as the verification method. For some reason microsoft won't send me a code.

This account is still signed in on my phone so I have gone through the verification process and I have copy pasted the email subject lines and contact addresses for the last 4 people I have sent emails too. COPY PASTED so they are correct, but microsoft is still saying they can't approve my account recovery.

Unfortunately, because this email account isn't currently signed in, I am not receiving new emails.

I need access to this account as I use it for all of my work and uni correspondence.

I don't understand why the system has locked me out in the first place when I had the correct verification method available.

Please help me to access my account.

I understand it’s very frustrating that the recovery form is being rejected even though you’ve copy-pasted the correct data. This usually means that, from the system’s perspective, the information still doesn’t clearly prove that you’re the rightful owner. You can submit the form again (up to two times per day), ideally from a trusted device and network where you’ve used the account before, without VPN. Unfortunately, if the recovery form continues to fail, Microsoft Support will give you the same guidance, as they don’t have access to change security details or bypass the automated process for your protection. In that case, the best course of action is to keep trying the form with as much accurate information as possible.
