Under Family Safety, the child profile does show up and I have blocked certain websites. Under Microsoft edge child is able to access any website without being blocked or asking for parent approval. This is a recent development as we have used it for two years without any complications until the last 24 hours.

If the child profile is not adhering to the web filtering settings in Microsoft Edge, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check Family Safety Settings: Ensure that the web filtering settings are still enabled for the child’s profile. Sometimes settings can inadvertently change or become disabled.
    2. Browser Updates: Make sure that Microsoft Edge is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, issues can arise from outdated software.
    3. Profile Connection: Verify that the child’s Microsoft account is properly connected to the family group. If there are any disconnections, it may affect the application of the settings.
    4. Activity Reporting: Ensure that the Activity Reporting feature is enabled, as it can help in monitoring and enforcing the settings.
    5. Unsupported Browsers: Remember that web filtering only works in Microsoft Edge. If the child is using other browsers, those will need to be approved by the parent to ensure filtering is applied.
    6. Temporary Issues: There may be temporary issues with the Family Safety features. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to review the settings on family.microsoft.com to ensure everything is set up correctly.

    Hi Emily,

Thank you for posting, I am here to help. Microsoft requires a Microsoft-based email (Outlook, Hotmail, Live) for child accounts. Existing Gmail accounts cannot be added as child accounts directly. You can forward notifications to Gmail if needed, but the child’s Microsoft account must be a Microsoft email.

Create a Microsoft account for your child:

Open any web browser and go to https://account.microsoft.com/account

    Log in as an organizer

Click Create one and select Get a new email address. You must create a new @outlook.com (or Hotmail/Live) address for the child. Enter your child’s details (name, password, birthdate). When prompted for parent verification, choose I’m a parent or guardian, enter your Microsoft account email, and approve the verification. After this, the child's account will be added to your Microsoft Family, allowing full family safety features.

I have the same problem. The Edge suddenly does not work with family safety.

Set up the web and search filters in Family Safety for kid's laptop, but the filter does not take into effect. The kid can browse any websites now.

The screen time still works, so it is not the account issue. Only Edge stop working with Family Safety.

I followed the instruction to create a totally new ***@outlook.com account for kid, and add it in the Family Safety. Again, the screen time works as expected, but the Edge still does not take any filter settings.

The problem starts today (may be yesterday).

    Please advice,-. Thanks!
