Voice access keeps hanging up. When it does type, it drops "whole words" or "partial words" inconsistently.

I have called in to Microsoft support almost 10 times over the past 5 months regarding the Voice Access issue!!! Each time they try updating windows (if update available) or click around a few different places and then give up. Once I even did a clean re-install of Windows. The problem is only getting worse. I have a brand new laptop with the specs given below.

What has already been tried:

  • Windows clean install
  • Windows update
  • Windows Repair
  • Microphone testing
  • Voice access settings

Help would be highly appreciated since I have trouble typing on the keyboard.

Below I have provided a few examples.

Problem typed using Voice Access: (missing words shown in quotes + bold)

Voice access keeps hang. When it does not it makes too many mistakes. It of drops out or partial words.

What it should have typed:

Voice access keeps "hanging up". When it does not "hang up" it makes too many mistakes. It "often times" drops out "whole words" or partial words.

More examples:

This is voice. Pro ceed to do the operation. This is making too many mistakes. It often leaves out or sometimes even words in the middle of the spelling.

What it should have typed:

This is voice "access". Proceed to do the operation. This is making too many mistakes. It often leaves out "words" or sometimes even "half of the" words in the middle of the spelling.

Here is another example:

I need you special Windows technical.

What it should have typed:

I need you "to specialize in" Windows "technical support".

    Hello,

I would recommend getting an external mic to make the voice input more consistent, if you're on a laptop the built in mics are generally not great, doesn't help that with most laptops they have fans constantly buzzing in the background, if you're able to get a wired mic separate from the laptop it should have more clarity in picking up words for voice access.

    Hope this helps,

    JC
