How to fix Copilot app on Windows 10? "Something went wrong"

Good Evening,

For the past several months, I've had a variety of issues regarding my experience of Copilot on Windows 10.

It has always come in some form of a conversation not being able to start, or the app itself returning to a "It's not you, it's me" screen, or some other form of "Something went wrong".

My connection to the internet is fine (as seen by me being able to send this here report) and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times to no avail, however it seems to be an issue on my end as Microsoft servers are just fine.

Hello Karl Hausser, welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

The Windows Copilot app is not available on Windows 10. Microsoft has retired the feature on Windows 10 and permanently shut down the backend services that supported it. This change is part of Microsoft’s focus on moving new innovations to Windows 11. As a result, the app will never connect again.

The full Copilot experience now requires Windows 11, version 22H2 or newer. If you want to use Copilot while staying on Windows 10, your can use Copilot on the web at https://copilot.microsoft.com in any browser or use the Copilot sidebar built into Microsoft Edge.
