I have two Microsoft accounts that I didn't realize I had. I want to delete one account and merge everything into a single account. I have a Windows Home version under remove PII @outlook.com, and I have a Business version under My Company Alphiniti, Inc. I would like to merge my home information with my business account. I purchased it through GoDaddy, my business account is under either remove PII or remove PII One of those is an alias to the other. I primarily use remove PII

To merge your Microsoft accounts, you will need to follow a specific process since Microsoft does not allow direct merging of accounts. Here are the steps you can take:

    1. Assess Your Accounts: Determine which account you want to keep (in your case, it sounds like you want to keep your business account under ******@alphiniti.com).
    2. Backup Data: Ensure that you back up any important data from your home account (******@outlook.com) that you want to keep. This includes files, emails, and any other important information.
    3. Transfer Information: Manually transfer any data you want to keep from your home account to your business account. This may involve:
      • Downloading files from OneDrive or other services associated with your home account and uploading them to your business account.
      • Forwarding important emails from your home account to your business account.
      • Updating any subscriptions or services that are linked to your home account to use your business account instead.
    4. Delete the Home Account: Once you have transferred all necessary information and are sure you no longer need the home account, you can proceed to delete it. To delete your Microsoft account, you can follow the instructions provided on the Microsoft support site for closing accounts.
    5. Check for Aliases: Since you mentioned that one of your accounts might be an alias, ensure that you understand how aliases work in Microsoft accounts. You may need to manage or remove aliases as part of your cleanup process.
    6. Contact Support if Needed: If you encounter any issues or have specific requirements, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance.

By following these steps, you can effectively consolidate your accounts and keep everything organized under one account.

    Hello Gene,

Here’s an alternative solution you can consider since Microsoft does not allow direct merging of accounts. Instead of trying to combine them, you can link and manage them in a way that gives you a unified experience. Start by deciding which account will be your primary most likely your business account under Alphiniti, Inc.

Next add your personal account as an alias or secondary sign-in option within your primary account settings. This allows you to use both email addresses without switching accounts constantly. For data consolidation rather than manually transferring everything you can set up email forwarding from your personal account to your business account and configure OneDrive to share or sync folders between the two accounts. For subscriptions and services update the billing and login details to your primary account where possible. If you use Microsoft 365 you can also share licenses or collaborate across accounts using shared access features.

Once you confirm that all critical data and services are accessible from your primary account you can close the secondary account following Microsoft’s official account closure process. This approach avoids losing data and gives you flexibility without the limitations of a full merge.

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
