Long story short, a few days ago I received an email on one of my accounts saying that unusual login activity was detected and the account was temporarily disabled. My phone number linked to the account is no longer working because it was deactivated, and I forgot to remove it from my Microsoft account.

Now, after someone tried to log in to my computer from another location, my account was blocked, and I can’t access it anymore without that old phone number. I had two accounts tied to the same phone number: this one, and another account mainly used for Xbox gaming.

For this account, I managed to remove the phone number since it wasn’t blocked, but my gaming profile still requires the old phone number, which I can’t use anymore. I still have full access to my email, the bank cards I used for subscriptions, and even the redeem codes I used on the account.

I tried using the login helper, but it keeps denying me. Contacting Microsoft support directly seems impossible. Is my account permanently gone, or is there still a way to recover it?

You don't necessarily have to use this unusable account to contact Microsoft; you can try using a different one. Click on this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contact?linkquery=Account%20alias

Select "Contact Support" on the bottom.

Then choose "Other products" and "Manage profile information" to continue.
