I had switched to using an outlook.com email and added the mail account to my macbook and iPhone. Both worked fine. I had two accounts, one an old hotmail.com address under Exchange and my new outlook address. Since the old hotmail just gets junk, I removed the old address account under Exchange from my mac and phone accounts. I then had issues with my outlook address so delected it to reinstall but now Microsoft is not allowing me to set up the outlook account.

To restore your Outlook email on your MacBook and iPhone, you can follow these general steps:

    1. Re-add the Outlook Account:
      • On your MacBook, open the Mail app, go to Mail > Add Account, and select Exchange or Outlook.com. Enter your Outlook email address and password.
      • On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account, select Outlook.com, and enter your credentials.
    2. Check for Existing Accounts: Ensure that there are no remnants of the old accounts that could be causing conflicts. Remove any old accounts from both devices if necessary.
    3. Use a Different Alias: If you're having trouble setting up the account due to conflicts with existing accounts, consider creating a new alias for your Outlook account in Microsoft 365, as this can sometimes resolve setup issues.
    4. Troubleshoot Connection Issues: If you encounter errors like "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable," ensure that your internet connection is stable and that you are using the correct credentials.
    5. Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.

These steps should help you restore your Outlook email on both devices.

    Hi,

If you've already done the steps that were given, here are some more things you can attempt to fix the problem.

You might also want to try using the official Microsoft Outlook apps on both devices, because they are usually better at checking security and signing in than Apple Mail. If you have two-factor authentication turned on, you might need to make a "App Password" from the Advanced Security Options in your Microsoft account and use that when you connect the account in Apple Mail. Make sure you pick the right type of account when you set it up. For example, use "Outlook.com" for @outlook.com addresses and "Microsoft Exchange" for Hotmail and custom domains, not IMAP or POP. Resetting your iPhone's network settings will help fix any connection problems if it still won't connect. It also helps to look at your Microsoft Recent Activity page to see if any login attempts were denied and to be sure they were yours.

You can also find more information about how to set up Outlook at these sources.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please leave a remark.

    Thanks,
