    Hi @Shariq,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for contacting us regarding the issue you are experiencing with New Outlook, and I truly appreciate the detailed information you provided. I understand that you are seeing an error message related to the folder:

    C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Olk\EBWebView

The EBWebView folder stores Outlook’s temporary web data via Microsoft Edge WebView2, and when this cache grows excessively or becomes corrupted such as in your case with ~40 GB, it can cause permission errors that prevent Outlook from launching and trigger the message ‘Microsoft Edge can’t read and write to its data directory.

To answer your query, deleting this folder is safe because it only contains temporary data. Outlook will automatically recreate it when you reopen the application.

    Please follow these steps:

1/ Close Outlook and related processes

    • Exit Outlook completely.
    • Open Task Manager > Right-click the entire Outlook group and select End task to close everything.
    • User's image

    2/ Delete the EBWebView folder

    • Open File Explorer and go to:%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Olk\
    • User's image
    • Delete the EBWebView folder.
    • User's image

    3/ Repair WebView2 Runtime

    4/ Check folder permissions

    • Right-click the Olk folder → Properties > Security → ensure your account has Full Control.
    • User's image

    5/ Restart Outlook

    • Open Outlook and sign in again.

    Notes:

    • This action will not affect your emails or server data.
    • If the issue persists, we can assist further by checking system permissions or repairing the Outlook app.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to assist you.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
